The Grids of Mars
In this survey, we
take a look at what are surely some of the most puzzling and rare features
yet found on Barsoom. I have taken to calling them "Grids", and for
obvious reason; that's what they appear to be. The Exact mechanisms
responsible for these extremely organized linear patterns on the surface
is an unknown, and hardly speculated on beyond blanket descriptions of
fretted terrain and linear dunes. Are they exhumed and eroded flows formed
by wind, water, and lavas, or explained by compound impact fracture? Some
combination?
Perhaps it's something else entirely.
Items like these are
part of the reason why observing Mars imagery became a passion for me.
It's gazing at the unknown country safely from above , leaving the mind
free for detailed visual exploration. In the course of this observation,
what if there were items of sort that displayed orthogonal traits of what
could even remotely be presumed to be remains of intelligent manufacture?
A long shot for sure, but what if? The opportunity to see what no man's
eyes have seen before coupled to the technological ability to do so means
that there is the chance, however slight, for any of us to discover
something revolutionary.
I'd like to thank
the brilliant enablers of this ability, namely
MSSS and Dr. Michael
Malin, who has so far returned 89 targeted imaging requests for me, and
for providing us all with many thousands of wonderfully detailed images,
without which we'd know so little and be able to speculate even less on
our wonderfully complex neighbor. If you'd like to see an image of any
specific Mars location, they do take requests:

Yes sir, it looks like we have something here indeed.
